Jansitin^® Duo

Jansitin^® Duo contains two different active substances, sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride (also called metformin).

Sitagliptin is a substance used for blood glucose regulation and belongs to a class of medicinal products is called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.
Metformin is another substance used for blood glucose regulation and is in a class of medications called biguanides.

They work together to regulate blood glucose levels in adult patients with a certain form of diabetes called Type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication helps to increase the levels of insulin formed after a meal and decrease the amount of glucose produced in your body.

This medicinal product reduces your blood glucose (blood sugar). You should also follow the diet and exercise program agreed upon with your doctor. This medicinal product can be used alone or in combination with certain other medicinal products to treat diabetes (insulin or medicinal products with active substances like sulphonylureas or glitazones).

Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which your body does not produce enough of the pancreatic hormone “insulin” and it cannot adequately regulate your metabolism.

Your body may also produce too much glucose. In these cases, the blood sugar level (glucose in the blood) increases. This can lead to serious health consequences such as heart and kidney disease, blindness and amputation.
