Bupretec^®

Bupretec^® contains the active substance buprenorphine.

Bupretec^® is an analgesic (a pain-relieving medicine) used for moderately severe to severe tumour pain and severe pain that does not respond to other types of painkillers. Bupretec^® works through the skin.

Bupretec^® is given to adults and adolescents aged 18 years and over.

Buprenorphine is an opioid (strong pain-relieving substance) that reduces pain by acting on the central nervous system (specific nerve cells in the spinal cord and the brain). The effect of the transdermal matrix patch lasts up to 4 days.

Bupretec^® is not suitable for the treatment of acute (short-lasting) pain.
