Capecel® contains the active substance capecitabine.
Capecel® belongs to the group of drugs called “cytostatics”, which stop the growth of cancer cells. Capecel® contains 500 mg capecitabine, which itself is not yet a cytostatic drug. Capecitabine is only converted into an active anti-cancer drug after it has been absorbed into the body.
Capecel® is given to adults.
Capecel® is used to treat cancers of the colon, rectum, stomach or breast. In addition, Capecel® is prescribed to prevent the recurrence of colorectal cancer after complete surgical removal of the tumour.
Capecel® can be used either alone or in combination with other medicines.
