Ciflox®

Ciflox® contains the active substance ciprofloxacin.

Ciflox® is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones. Ciprofloxacin works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It only works on certain strains of bacteria.

Ciflox® is used in adults to treat the following bacterial infections:

  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Long-lasting or recurrent infections of the ears or sinuses
  • Urinary tract and renal pelvic infections
  • Infections of the genital organs in women and men
  • Infections of the gastrointestinal tract and infections of the abdominal cavity
  • Infections of the skin and soft tissues
  • Infections of the bones and joints
  • Prevention of infections caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis
  • Treatment after inhalation of anthrax bacteria

Ciprofloxacin may be used to treat patients who have a reduced number of certain white blood cells (neutropenia) and fever suspected to be due to a bacterial infection.

 

Ciflox® is used in children and adolescents under the supervision of a doctor specialised in this field for the treatment of the following bacterial infections:

  • Infection of the lungs and bronchi in children and adolescents suffering from fibrosis.
  • Complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis
  • Treatment following anthrax inhalation
