Ezeato®

Ezeato®

Ezeato® contains the active substances ezetimibe and atorvastatin.

Ezeato® is a medicine used to lower elevated cholesterol levels.

Ezeato® is used in adult patients to lower total cholesterol, the so-called “bad” cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) and other fats, the so-called triglycerides, in the blood. In addition, Ezeato® increases the levels of the so-called “good” cholesterol (HDL cholesterol).

Ezeato® lowers your cholesterol levels in two ways. It reduces both the absorption of cholesterol from the intestine and your body’s own cholesterol production.

Cholesterol is one of several types of fat in your blood. Your total cholesterol consists mainly of LDL and HDL cholesterol.

LDL cholesterol is often called “bad” cholesterol because it can accumulate on the walls of blood vessels (arteries) and form plaques there. These plaques can eventually lead to narrowing of the arteries. This narrowing can lead to a circulatory disorder or a vessel occlusion in vital organs such as the heart or brain. A vessel occlusion can trigger a heart attack or stroke.

HDL cholesterol is often called “good” cholesterol because it helps prevent “bad” cholesterol from accumulating in the arteries and prevents heart disease.

Triglycerides are other blood fats that can also increase the risk of heart disease.

Ezeato® is used in those patients whose cholesterol levels cannot be lowered by a cholesterol-lowering diet alone. A cholesterol-lowering diet must also be continued during treatment with this medicine.

A doctor may prescribe Ezeato® to those patients who are already taking atorvastatin and ezetimibe at the same dose.

Ezeato® does not help to lose body weight.
