Potassium Iodide G.L.

Potassium iodide G.L. contains the active substance potassium iodide.

Potassium iodide G.L. 65 mg tablets are used for iodine blockade of the thyroid gland in the event of nuclear accidents (prevention of radioactive iodine [iodine-131] being stored in the thyroid gland).

Population/age group Dosage
Pregnant and breastfeeding women:  2 tablets once  (equivalent to 100 mg iodide)
under 1 month:  ¼ tablet once  (quivalent to 12.5 mg iodide)
1 to under 36 months:  ½ tablet  (quivalent to 25 mg iodide)
3 to under 12 years:  1 tablet  (quivalent to 50 mg iodide)
12 to under 40 years:  2 tablets  (quivalent to 100 mg iodide)
People 40 years and older: not recommended

The tablet can be divided into equal doses with the help of a cross-break groove.

A single intake is usually sufficient. In exceptional cases, the competent authority will recommend another tablet intake.
