Palibon®

Palibon®

Palibon® contains the active substance paliperidone, which is classified as an antipsychotic drug and used as maintenance therapy for schizophrenia symptoms in adult patients who have been adjusted to paliperidone or risperidone.

When a patient has responded to paliperidone or risperidone in the past and has mild to moderate symptoms, the doctor can initiate treatment with Palibon® without prior adjustment to paliperidone or risperidone.

Schizophrenia is a disease with what are called positive and negative symptoms. Positive describes symptoms that are normally not present. Persons with schizophrenia, for example, may hear voices or see things that do not exist (called hallucinations), believe things that are not true (called delusions), or are unusually mistrustful of others. Negative describes the absence of behaviours or feelings that are normally present. Persons with schizophrenia may appear withdrawn and respond with no emotion, or have difficulties expressing themselves clearly and articulately. Affected persons may also be depressive, anxious, or feel guilt or tension.

Palibon® may help to alleviate the symptoms of the disease and prevent the relapse of symptoms.
