Pomalidomide G. L. is used to treat adults who suffer from cancer called “multiple myeloma”. Pomalidomide G. L. is used either together with:

– two other medicinal products with the active substance “bortezomib” (a chemotherapeutic medicinal product) and “dexamathasone” (an anti-inflammatory medicinal product) in patients who have had at least one other treatment, including with the active substance lenalidomide.

or

– another medicinal product with the active substance “dexamethasone” in patients whose myeloma has worsened despite the use of at least two other treatments, including medicinal products with the active substances lenalidomide and bortezomib.

What is multiple myeloma?

Multiple myeloma is a type of cancer that affects certain white blood cells (called “plasma cells”). These cells grow uncontrolled and accumulate in the bone marrow. This can damage bone and kidneys. Multiple myeloma in general cannot be cured. However, the signs and symptoms of the disease can be alleviated by treatment or even disappear completely for a while. This is what is called “remission”.
