Rosuvalan® contains the active substance rosuvastatin.
Rosuvalan® belongs to a group of medicines known as statins.
Rosuvalan® is prescribed to patients who have high cholesterol. This means that these patients are at risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Rosuvalan® is used in adults, adolescents and children 6 years and older to treat high cholesterol when dietary changes and increased exercise have not lowered cholesterol levels sufficiently. During treatment with Rosuvalan®, a cholesterol-lowering diet and exercise must be continued.
Rosuvalan® may also be prescribed if there are other reasons that increase the risk of heart attack, stroke or related health problems. Heart attack, stroke or other conditions can be caused by a disease called arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis is due to a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries.
