Telmicard® contains the active substance telmisartan.
Telmicard® belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Angiotensin-II is a substance that is produced in the body and causes the blood vessels to become narrower. This increases blood pressure. Telmicard® blocks the action of angiotensin-II so that the blood vessels relax and blood pressure drops.
Telmicard® is used to treat high blood pressure (essential hypertension) in adults.
Telmicard® is also used to reduce cardiovascular disease (e.g. heart attack or stroke) in adults at risk.
