Topilex® contains the active substance topiramate.
Topilex® belongs to a group of medicines called “antiepileptic drugs”.
Topilex® is used as monotherapy in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over with focal seizures (with or without secondary generalised seizures) or with primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures.
Topilex® is also used as adjunctive therapy in adults, adolescents and children aged 2 years and over with focal seizures with or without secondary generalisation, with primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures and for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
Topilex® is used for the prophylaxis of migraine headaches in adults after careful consideration of possible alternative treatments. Topiramate is not intended for acute treatment.
