Venlafab® contains the active substance venlafaxine.
Venlafab® is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This group of medicines is used to treat depression and other conditions such as anxiety disorders.
Venlafab® prolonged-release capsules are used to treat episodes of major depression and to prevent the recurrence of new depressive episodes (relapse prevention). Venlafab® prolonged-release capsules are also used for the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.
