Xiclav®

Xiclav®

Xiclav® contains the active substances amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.

Xiclav® is an antibiotic and works by killing bacteria that cause infections. Amoxicillin belongs to a group of medicines called “penicillins” which can sometimes become ineffective (inactive). The second active ingredient, clavulanic acid, prevents this.

Xiclav® is indicated for the treatment of the following infections:

  • middle ear infections and sinus infections,
  • respiratory infections
  • urinary tract infections
  • skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections
  • bone and joint infections

Children aged 6 years or younger should preferably be treated with Xiclav® powder for syrup.
